Helen withdrew her gaze and followed Wanda inside.

They walked through the hallway and crossed the courtyard. After strolling through the garden, they eventually arrived at the well-maintained house at the back.

"Ms. Spencer, please wait here. I'll go fetch Mrs. Boston."

Wanda pushed the door open and entered. Helen stood at the doorway and surveyed her surroundings.

The courtyard, unlike the grand hall, had a serene atmosphere. It was surrounded by lush greenery, which gave her a sense of tranquility.

"Ms. Spencer, please come in." Wanda gestured for Helen to enter.

As she stepped inside, Helen was surprised to find a large room adorned with religious symbols. Melody was devoutly praying before the statue.

"Mrs. Boston, Ms. Spencer is here," Wanda announced.

Melody abruptly opened her eyes upon hearing that. She stood up and looked at Helen. A broad smile spread across her face as she rushed forward and embraced Helen tightly.

"Bee, you're back! I missed you so much," Melody said.

Helen stood there dazed and basked in affection that wasn't meant for her. Despite the guilt she felt in her heart, she recalled her promise to Faye.

With a heavy heart, Helen slowly withdrew her outstretched hand and allowed Melody to embrace her.

"Bee, come here and let me take a good look at you. Have you been eating properly lately? You seem to have lost a lot of weight."

Melody seemed much more composed than in their initial meeting, and she showed no signs of agitation.

She asked, "What would you like to eat? Remember to tell me, and I'll cook it for you.

Helen quickly reassured her, "I've been doing well. You don't have to worry about me."

Melody nodded. "That's good…" Then, she stood up and took Helen's hand. "Come, let me show you something."

Helen followed her. As they reached the doorway, she saw Faye and Wanda waiting outside.

Upon seeing Faye, Melody's mood instantly changed. She tightly held Helen's hand and protected her while cursing, "Schemer, stay away from me and Bee! I don't want to see you. Get lost!"

Faye's expression darkened. "Mom, it's me. I'm your daughter, Faye."

"No, I only have one daughter. You're not… You're a schemer. A schemer…" Melody seemed shaken and instinctively let go of Helen's hand. She clutched her head and crouched down.

She kept repeating, "You're not my daughter. Bee is my daughter, not you!"
