"What? Are you back already? You're staying at Spencer Residence, right?"
Winnie glanced at Helen before answering, "Helen and I are currently outside. Give us a moment, we'll be back soon."
Hearing Winnie's conversation, Helen asked, "Your parents are back?"
"Yes, they're at your house right now," Winnie confirmed.
Noticing the abundance of shopping bags they were carrying, Helen decided it was time to head home.
Several cars were parked outside Spencer Residence.
Upon their return, Helen and the others were met by stewards bringing gifts into the house, one after another.
Winnie quickly recognized them as people sent by her father, Irwin Beck.
Entering the living room, they were warmly greeted by Winnie's parents, who were elegantly dressed and seated on the sofa.
"Winnie, our precious daughter," they said affectionately.
Seeing her mother, Jolene Kent, Winnie rushed into her embrace. "Mom, weren't you supposed to stay abroad for a few more days? Why did you return so suddenly?"
"It's hard to believe, but there was utter chaos overseas. If we hadn't hurried back, our safety could've been at risk," Jolene explained, recounting the alarming events they had encountered abroad.
"It was really scary. Foreign countries can be so unpredictable. From now on, we'll reconsider traveling abroad, even to seemingly safe destinations," she added.
"It's a frightening thought. Mom, please promise me you won't venture into unfamiliar places anymore. Just stay home with me, okay?"
"Alright, alright, that's precisely my plan."
Irwin and Jolene made an effort to show Helen what they had brought for her.
However, since Helen hadn't interacted with them much before, their gestures left her feeling puzzled, unable to understand their motives.
A sense of unease lingered around their generous behavior.
"You really don't need to go to all this trouble. Winnie and I are friends. There's no need for formality," Helen insisted.
"I…" Winnie's voice trailed off as she considered her response. "Okay, Helen, I'll go home for the night. I'll come back tomorrow to keep you company."
"Sounds good."
With that, Winnie approached Helen and hugged her. After staying for dinner, she eventually left with her parents.
Just then, Chandler's phone began buzzing incessantly.
Helen suspected it was probably someone from the Newton family trying to reach him.
Annoyed, Chandler flipped his phone over and silenced it.
"Aren't you going to answer? What if it's something urgent?" Helen asked.
Urgent?
Chandler couldn't suppress a scoff. "Do you even care about me? Are my affairs of any importance to you?"
