"No thanks," Larry countered. "Considering your medical expertise, I assume you're familiar with Shawn Novis. Am I correct?"

"Nope, never heard of him," Shawn replied bluntly.

"Do you honestly think I'll believe that?" Larry shot back, his teeth clenched. He couldn't shake the feeling that "Archie" was hiding something.

"Captain Whitmore, you're honestly quite the character. With billions of people on the planet and tens of millions in the medical field, am I supposed to know them all?"

Shawn began to feign ignorance, teasingly suggesting, "Captain Whitmore, could it be that this Shawn fellow is your special someone?"

Larry was startled by the question, his expression momentarily wavering. With gritted teeth, he retorted, "Shawn is a man, for heaven's sake!"

"What?" Shawn sighed wistfully, his gaze turning slightly curious as he glanced at Larry. "I never realized you have those inclinations, Captain Whitmore."

"I do not!" Larry protested vehemently, pounding his chest in frustration.

"You don't need to justify anything to me. I genuinely respect all sexual orientations. Love is love, and it's always embraced in this world!" Shawn replied knowingly.

Despite Larry's denials, it seemed Shawn had made up his mind about Larry's preference for men. Unable to contain his frustration any longer, he stormed off in anger.

"Captain Whitmore, Captain Whitmore!" Ambrose called out, hurrying a few steps after Larry as he walked away through the gates.

Returning to Shawn, Ambrose gave him a thumbs-up. "Nice work, Archie Cromwell! You really managed to provoke Larry enough to make him storm off. Well done!"

Shawn rolled his eyes, choosing not to respond.

This was child's play. If Larry had heard how Helen could insult someone, he likely wouldn't have dared to return for the rest of his life.

Meanwhile, Helen seemed entirely detached from their conversation, her gaze fixed on Kyle's face. After a moment, she spoke calmly, "Do we have the necessary surgical equipment available in Glendale?"

"No," Chandler replied curtly.

"I trust you," Helen replied. She understood that even the closest of people couldn't fully share each other's burdens.
