The whole residential area was dead silent late at night. A specially modified ambulance was parked in front of Spencer Residence.

The ambulance drove out of the old town after a brief stay, escorted by four cars at the front and back. An hour later, they arrived at the intensive care unit of a private hospital.

Bernard looked at the cryogenic chamber that had been brought in and pulled Chandler aside. "I told you he's a vegetable and won't wake up. Why did you still send him over?"

"We need to use your place for a surgery," Chandler expressed calmly.

"A surgery? For the guy in that cryogenic chamber? Are you kidding?" Bernard asked in disbelief.

Although he hadn't practiced medicine for the longest time, he remained as Glendale's most authoritative expert. Would he not know if one had the sign of life to wake up or not?

A surgery without careful consideration would only cause secondary damage to the patient's body.

But after he finished talking, Chandler still remained solemn, and Helen at the side also had a serious look.

"You're not kidding." Bernard was certain of that.

"No way." He opened his arms and blocked in front of them. "I'm an ethical doctor, and I will never allow you to mess with the patient's life!"

As soon as he said that, Shawn walked past, wearing a surgical gown.

Bernard turned his head as he watched Shawn walk by before realizing that Shawn was the surgeon. He instantly rushed over to stop Shawn.

"Hey!" Bernard scolded, "How dare you swindler perform the surgery under such circumstances? Do you know that the patient will die if anything goes wrong in the craniotomy? Can you take responsibility for that?"

"Okay, okay." Shawn put on an innocent look. "I'll be responsible. You're so handsome, so I must take the responsibility."

Then, he headed to the operating room slowly under Bernard's gaze. The red sign that read "in surgery" lit up not long after he went in.

Bernard knew that it was too late to stop Shawn now.

Calming down, he narrowed his eyes and stared resentfully at Helen and Chandler sitting on the bench opposite him.

Yet, Chandler ignored him and silently held Helen's hand.

Bernard was in great shock, but he was weak and could do nothing except widen his eyes. He could only yell in his heart, scolding them for making him witness their public displays of affection while he was in such a state.

Chandler seemed to hear Bernard as he glanced past Bernard and looked away indifferently. It was as if Bernard was a statue.
