Helen shot Otto a stern glance and warned, "You'd better not test my patience."

"Damn," Otto replied, looking slightly hurt. "I'm genuinely disappointed, Ms. Spencer. After I stood up for you, is this how you repay me?"

"I didn't ask for your help," Helen retorted, rolling her eyes. With that, she turned on her heel and walked away.

Otto's smile vanished instantly. He exchanged a glance with Laura, who promptly followed Helen.

"Ms. Spencer," Laura began, trailing behind Helen as they navigated through the party, "do you know much about Mr. Muskham Senior?"

"I don't know him," Helen said, glancing back to see Laura behind her. "Why are you tagging along?"

Ignoring Helen's question, Laura continued, "He is none other than Mr. Austin Muskham, the organizer of this gemstone auction and the patriarch of the Muskham family.

Helen turned to see a flamboyantly dressed man with an air of arrogance, flanked by several companions.

"And who are you?" Helen asked, her tone edged with irritation.

Laura leaned in and whispered, "That's Freddie, Mr. Muskham Senior's only son."

Freddie Muskham sauntered up to Helen and stopped right in front of her. With a lecherous gaze, he looked her up and down and said, "You're absolutely breathtaking. This must be your first time here, isn't it? Do you know who I am?"
