Chapter 201: Tornado Lian and Mei

Xiang Yu had never seen Lian and Mei like this before. Under the influence of sugar they were like little feral daredevils constantly fighting and bouncing around like they had been injected with chicken blood.

For the most part they were normally well-behaved but tonight they were a lot of work. Getting them to do anything was like pulling at teeth. It took every ounce of this Demon King’s patience to finally get them into bed, their laughter still echoing in his ears.

As they settled under the covers, their eyes still sparkling with mischief, Xiang Yu took a deep breath and asked, "So, how was your first day at school?"

The twins had been reluctant to go, and Xiang Yu had braced himself for complaints. Lian was the first to speak, his voice tinged with boredom. "Class was boring."

Mei chimed in enthusiastically, "Yes, very boring. And the math teacher was spitting the entire class."

Lian nodded vigorously. "There’s so much work. It’s boring."

Xiang Yu scratched his head, already dreading the battle it would be to get them to school the next day. It seemed like it would take a lot more bribing than he had anticipated. But then, Lian’s face lit up.

"But we met new people, the food was yummy, and we played sports."

Mei nodded enthusiastically. "Yep, we had so much fun! We played something called hockey and we played music instruments."

Xiang Yu let out a soft laugh, relief washing over him. "Okay," he said, smiling. He had thought he would have to drag them to school tomorrow kicking and screaming, but it seemed they had found some joy in their day after all.

What Xiang Yu didn’t know was that when they said they met new people, they meant they had saved a kid from being bullied. When they said they played sports, they had actually hit the bullies with the ball and found it hilarious. And when they said they played instruments, they had put chalk powder inside the bullies’ music instruments. In other words they made the bullies miserable all day.

After school, when the bullies tried to retaliate, Lian and Mei had tag-teamed like wrestlers in a ring, putting the bullies in their place. So yes, they had the most fun in school.

Xiang Yu settled himself between their beds, a warm smile playing on his lips as he asked, "So... what is school like?"

Lian and Mei’s eyes lit up with excitement. They launched into a detailed recount of their day, their voices overlapping in their eagerness to share every moment. They described the cafeteria food with surprising enthusiasm, listing every item they had eaten. They giggled as they recounted the nicknames they had given their teachers—Mr. Spit for the math teacher, who had a habit of spraying his words, and Miss Giggles for the always-laughing art teacher.

Xiang Yu listened intently, his smile growing wider with each story. He loved seeing them so animated and happy. After they had exhausted their tales, Mei looked up at him with wide eyes and asked, "Master, what did you do today?"

Lian chimed in, "Did you miss us?"

Xiang Yu’s mind flashed back to his time at Han Xin’s house. He cleared his throat, choosing his words carefully. "Well, I punished the person who placed you in the shipping container."

Mei sat up, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "Really?" she exclaimed.

Xiang Yu nodded. "Yes."
