Chapter 333: Getting revenge for the damsel

AN: Happy new year everyone. Yesterday was really had for me to get away. I apologise for the unedited Chapter. I will take a break today as the first day of the new year and see on the 2nd. I appreciate you all so much. I wish you a happy new year and a prosperous 2025.

The steward instructed the young woman to lock the door in the hall and not let anyone in. She nodded cleverly and stood by the door. Xiao He felt a little suspicious but he still followed the steward into the crown prince’s bed chambers.

He had anticipated a promotion but as he stepped inside, the atmosphere shifted dramatically. The room was dimly lit, with only a side light and desk lamp casting flickering shadows on the walls. The air was thick and heavy, almost tangible in its oppressiveness.

It felt as though an invisible hand was pressing down on his shoulders, forcing him to his knees. He struggled to breathe, each inhalation a laborious task under the weight of the suffocating aura.

Xiang Yu sat at his desk, his posture relaxed yet commanding. His face was a mask of calm, devoid of any emotion, but his eyes bore into Xiao He with an intensity that was almost unbearable.

It was as if Xiang Yu’s very presence was a dark force, a demon come to collect a debt long overdue. Xiao He’s mouth went dry, and he could feel the cold sweat trickling down his back.

He dared not look away from the prince’s gaze, which seemed to pierce through his very soul. The silence in the room was deafening, broken only by the faint sound of music playing.

Xiang Yu took out a dagger from the velvet box on the desk and twisted the tip on his fingers as he swung his swivel chair lightly. "Do you know why I summoned you here?" Xiang Yu’s voice was soft, almost a whisper, yet it carried a weight that made Xiao He’s knees tremble.

Xiao He opened his mouth to speak, but no words came out. He could only shake his head, his mind a whirl of fear and confusion. Xiao He didn’t think what he did to Han Xin’s things would cause such a reaction. It must have been because he did something else wrong which was why he was summoned.

Xiang Yu’s expression remained unchanged, but the oppressive aura seemed to grow even stronger. "Really don’t know why I called you," he continued, his tone as cold and unyielding as steel with a malicious smile on his lips. That made both Xiao He and the steward feel their blood run cold.

Xiang Yu stood up, his steps slow and deliberate. Each step made Xiao He, kneeling on the ground, tremble under the full oppressive force of an alpha pressing down on him. Xiang Yu’s presence was overwhelming, a dark cloud that seemed to suffocate the very air in the room.

"You decided that your life was too boring, that you had to go and pick on someone who has never wronged you a day in your life," Xiang Yu said, his voice a low, dangerous rumble.

Realizing what the crown prince was talking about, Xiao He was so terrified he whimpered, quivering like a leaf. It wasn’t that his life was too boring. His life was great. He didn’t even have to pay for lodging or food, plus the salary and benefits were excellent.

But he had always hated Han Xin. Han Xin was a superior alpha with great achievements. He could paint and do calligraphy, he was incredibly handsome, and someday he would be the right-hand man at the imperial Lord’s side when Xiang Yu ascended the throne.

Xiao He had always made fun of Han Xin and messed with him, but Han Xin never said a word to him, treating him like air, like he was an ant that didn’t deserve a glance. Once Xiao He saw Han Xin’s dishevelled appearance when he came out of the crown prince’s room, he told everyone that Han Xin was the crown prince’s play thing.

He mocked him with others, but in truth, he was jealous. Who wouldn’t want to be with such a dazzling man like Xiang Yu? Sure, Han Xin might never be the imperial queen in the future, but being a kept man brought more benefits.

When Han Xin seemed to have lost favor with the prince, Xiao He was filled with the delusion that he would become the new attendant and serve the master well. His grand delusions were further fueled by Peng Xiu, landing him in this mess. His heart sank as he realized he was used like a stupid pawn.

Xiang Yu leaned against the desk his wrath coiling around him like a serpent ready to strike. His fierce gaze bore into Xiao He, a look so intense it could ignite the very air between them.

"You are not stupid enough to do this without someone’s urging," Xiang Yu growled, his voice a low rumble that echoed with unrestrained fury. He crouched down, bringing himself eye-to-eye with the steward, a predator assessing its prey.

The dagger, cold and gleaming, glinted ominously in the dim light as he pressed the flat of its blade against Xiao He’s chin, forcing him to meet his gaze.

Xiao He’s heart raced, a wild drumbeat of terror that reverberated in his ears. As he looked into those murderous eyes, tears spilled over, tracing a path down his cheeks, each drop a testament to his helplessness. Xiang Yu sneered, a cruel twist of his lips that betrayed no mercy. "Who told you to do it?"

The question hung in the air like a noose, tightening around Xiao He’s throat. He was paralyzed by fear, a deer caught in the hunter’s sight. The name of Peng Xiu danced on the tip of his tongue, but it was a name that felt like poison.
