Chapter 464: I am eating for three

With a smile bright enough to light the room, Mei explained, "It’s for the baby!"

"Yeah, master," Lian echoed, leaning forward with a conspiratorial tone. "You will be eating for three soon."

Han Xin couldn’t hold back a chuckle. But when he caught sight of Xiang Yu’s eyes narrowing at him, he coughed, turning away to suppress his grin.

Xiang Yu raised an eyebrow. "You want ice cream, don’t you? That’s why you’re being all extra."

"Yes!" Lian admitted eagerly, while Mei added, "No, no!" her laughter was nervous.

"Is it a yes or a no?" Xiang Yu pressed, a teasing smile on his lips.

In unison, Lian and Mei chirped, "It’s a yes!"

Han Xin looked amused. "Why can’t they have some? What did they do now?"

"They were smoking and lied about it," Xiang Yu replied without hesitation.

Marshal Wu’s eyes widened in disbelief. "They what?" he asked, shocked. "Since when do you two smoke?"

Lian flung her hands up in defence. "We didn’t mean to!"

"Yes," Xiang Yu retorted sharply, "you didn’t mean to accidentally slip a cigarette in your mouths and smoke it?"

"Master, please spare us this time! We shouldn’t have lied," Mei pleaded, her voice softening at the end as she glanced at Xiang Yu.

He chose not to respond. Instead, Lian and Mei diverted their attention to Han Xin, pleading, "Big brother, talk to master for us!"

"No," Xiang Yu interrupted firmly, locking eyes with Han Xin. "Don’t ask him." His seriousness was evident, a clear wall between them and their escape.

When dessert arrived, a mooncake mousse and a colourful fruit platter sat in front of Xiang Yu alongside the ice cream Lian and Mei had craved. As he dug in, Lian muttered under her breath, "Dang, master is really petty."

Mei’s lips pursed, watching Xiang Yu relish the treats. Xiang Yu caught Lian’s comment and grinned, satisfaction washing over him as he took a particularly large bite of ice cream. "I am eating for three," he said after swallowing. "One, two and three," he continued while pointing at Mei, Lian and then himself.

Lian, "..."

Mei, "..."

In hushed tones, Han Zhan leaned toward Marshal Wu, whispering, "They look like they are starving. Maybe you should get them some ice cream later."

Marshal Wu shook his head, a slight smile playing on his lips. "You think I want to cross Xiang Yu? I am not that brave."
