He reached for a pillow, his hands moving on instinct. Bringing it closer, he breathed in deeply, the scent familiar and comforting. It wrapped around him like a warm embrace, lulling him into drowsiness. Before he knew it, he had stretched out on the bed, his body sinking into its softness. His eyelids drooped, and sleep claimed him.
When Xiang Yu woke, the house was still silent, the door still unopened. Han Xin hadn’t returned. Xiang Yu quickly made the bed, smoothing out every wrinkle with care. He scribbled a note and left it on the pillow. ’A gift for you from me XOXO,’ the note read simply. With one last glance at the potato plant, he slipped out the way he had come.
The next day, Xiang Yu returned. Han Xin still hadn’t come back. The window was his entrance again, and this time, he didn’t linger. He moved straight to the bedroom and lay down on the bed as though it belonged to him. His eyes closed, and sleep came easier than before.
But when Han Xin finally returned home, he noticed immediately that something was off. To anyone else, the house would have appeared untouched, but Han Xin’s sharp eyes caught the subtle signs. His body tensed as he moved through the house, his focus narrowing on the bedroom.
Opening the door, his gaze fell on the figure lying on his bed. His heart clenched, a mixture of disbelief and irritation coursing through him. "Xiang Yu!" he barked, his voice cutting through the air like a whip.
Xiang Yu, mid-dream and mumbling something incomprehensible, jolted awake. His lips were still parted, the remnants of whatever dream he had been enjoying clinging to him. He blinked up at Han Xin, startled and disoriented, as though he’d just been caught stealing the moon itself.
"What are you yelling like that for?" Xiang Yu mumbled, still caught in the haze between sleep and wakefulness. He peeked out from beneath his layers, blinking against the brightness.
"Let me sleep a little longer," he muttered, his eyes fluttering shut again, willing the world back into darkness. But the softness of the quilt was short-lived.
In a swift motion, Han Xin strode into the room, a tempest of irritation. He yanked the covers away, exposing Xiang Yu to the cool air. "Get up," he commanded, pulling the man from the bed as though he were nothing more than a rag doll.
Xiang Yu, still half-lost in his dreams, jolted awake, confusion clouding his mind. "I—I didn’t mean to," he stammered, scrambling for clarity. "I thought you were avoiding me, so I came to check on you..."
His voice trailed off as Han Xin pushed him against the wall, the impact firm yet calculated. There was anger in his eyes, but the way he handled Xiang Yu spoke of an unusual restraint. He was mindful of Xiang Yu’s injured shoulder.
At that moment, Xiang Yu realized how deep the tension was. "You have been avoiding me, haven’t you... husband?" he said, voice steady despite the uncertainty clattering inside him.
Han Xin’s chest heaved as he stared down at Xiang Yu, his emotions a tempest of anger, confusion, and something deeper, something he couldn’t quite articulate. The word "husband" slipped from Xiang Yu’s lips, and it was like a lightning bolt, striking Han Xin with its raw, unfiltered truth.
It grounded him, cutting through the storm of questions that burned in his throat. Why had Xiang Yu snuck into his room? Why had he been giving plants to other men, his hands brushing theirs with a familiarity that made Han Xin’s blood boil? Why was he toying with him, pulling him closer only to push him away?
But instead of demanding answers, Han Xin acted on instinct. He crashed his lips down on Xiang Yu’s, pouring all his pent-up emotions into the kiss. It was fierce, desperate, a collision of need and want.
Xiang Yu kissed back, his hands reaching up to tangle in Han Xin’s hair, pulling him closer. The kiss was a storm, a whirlwind of tongues and teeth, a silent battle for dominance that neither man was willing to concede.
Han Xin’s hands gripped Xiang Yu’s hips, his fingers digging into the soft flesh as he pressed him into the mattress. Xiang Yu moaned into the kiss, his body arching up to meet Han Xin’s, his nails scraping against Han Xin’s scalp.
The air between them crackled with tension, the unspoken words hanging heavy in the space they shared. Han Xin’s lips trailed down Xiang Yu’s jaw, his breath hot against his skin, his teeth nipping at the sensitive spot where his neck met his shoulder.
When their lips met again the kiss became slower, deeper, filled with a tenderness that belied the tension between them.
Xiang Yu melted into the kiss, his body surrendering to Han Xin’s touch. His hands slid down to the hem of Han Xin’s t-shirt, tugging it free from his trousers as he pulled it over his head.
Han Xin’s chest was a map of lean muscle and smooth skin, his nipples tight buds that Xiang Yu couldn’t resist teasing with his tongue. Han Xin groaned, his hands roaming over Xiang Yu’s body, his touch both possessive and reverent.
