Anne seemed oblivious to the sarcasm in her words, smiling brightly.

“Throw them out and don’t even touch them. Get them out of my sight immediately.”

He quickly summoned a nurse, who promptly discarded all the gifts brought by Paulo and Anne, even disinfecting the bedside table.
