"This might not be a good idea. Ms. Windsor, you aren't a part of the Lawson family after all. Getting involved in their affairs could raise suspicions from outsiders and tarnish your reputation," she sighed, gently patting Anne's hand.

"Though it might be unpleasant to hear, it's the truth. I hope you won't take it the wrong way," Barbara added softly.

Anne shrugged, seemingly unaffected. "I don't care about public opinion, but I do see Mr. Corey and you as family. Once this is settled, having Mr. Corey regard me as his sister could resolve this issue, couldn't it?"

Barbara was taken aback, carefully considering Anne's intention.

She lowered her gaze and concealed her emotions.

"What do you think?" Anne asked.

Barbara did not give a direct answer.

"Aren't you friends with Sheena? Why would you want to sideline her authority in the Lawson Group?"
