Callum obediently climbed down from Mavis's arms, taking her hand and leading her toward the dining room.

Mildred stayed behind, watching the mother and son walk away.

She sighed silently before calling Troy over to ask about Nathaniel's injuries from the car accident.

Only three people were at the table during lunch.

Marius was out of town, dealing with his car dealership business in a neighboring city.

Gabrielle had not been home for months, having gone abroad for her studies.

"I'll take care of him until he recovers, fulfilling my final duties as his wife. But the divorce will still happen at the same time. I'll have my lawyer draft a new agreement. He can have all the assets. I just want Callum."

"That's impossible!"
