Callum smacked his lips, eyeing the duck confit as he drooled.

"Alright!" Nathaniel said, carefully serving Callum some duck confit.

His tone was neutral but laced with affection.

Mavis found herself being fed the entire time. She wanted to get the dishes herself, but the father-son duo did not give her a chance. Surprisingly, she found this dining experience quite pleasant.

After the satisfying meal, guilt prompted her to check on Evan next door. However, the little one seemed to anticipate her thoughts and blocked her path.

"Mommy, Daddy also prepared some tea. Grandma Mildred says a cup of tea after a meal is good for digestion!"

Before Mavis could react, Callum had already led her to the small sofa nearby. They sipped the tea and basked in the warm sunlight streaming through the windows, enjoying the rare moment of peace.

Suddenly remembering something, Mavis set down her teacup and casually mentioned, "I saw Tiffany on my way to the hospital cafeteria at lunch."

Nathaniel looked at her with a puzzled expression.

Mavis continued, "I thought she was here to visit you. After all, she's your ex-girlfriend, and it would make sense for her to check on you. But strangely, it seemed like she was here to see Evan."

Nathaniel quickly turned serious and asked, "Did you see her in Evan's room?"

"No, I just smelled her perfume in Evan's room," Mavis replied, then shook her head. "It's probably just my imagination. The rooms are so close together. She was likely here to see you. After all, she still has feelings for you, doesn't she?"

Nathaniel's handsome face darkened, and he did not respond. He knew better than anyone whether Tiffany liked him or not.

That woman only loved money and was opportunistic and vain. She had only wanted to be with him because the Sullivans were facing a severe financial crisis and hoped for help from the Nicholls family.

After his last warning, she had stayed out of his sight for quite some time.

So, why would she suddenly appear at the hospital, and in Evan's room no less?

Lost in thought, Nathaniel carefully pondered this matter. Then, he picked up his phone from the bedside table and sent a message to Lionel.

Mavis found the word completely unbelievable when applied to Nathaniel.

"Callum, that's not how we use the word 'pitiful'," she explained.

"Oh right, Daddy's fine. He just nearly had his heart injured and almost died, that's all. Daddy's not in any real danger, right, Daddy?"

Nathaniel frowned deeply, clutching his chest and leaning against the headboard as if suddenly overcome by unbearable pain.

"Stop acting," Mavis uttered, mercilessly exposing him.

"Mommy, look! Daddy's really in pain. If even you don't care about him and go to stay with Uncle Evan instead, the pain will only get worse!" Callum righteously reasoned with her, somehow making it seem like she was the heartless one.

"Callum, why are you taking his side?" Mavis asked, exasperated.

"Because he's my daddy! Even though he's mean and always bullies me, I have to admit, Daddy's family!" The little one put his hands on his hips, countering her with conviction.
