The base assigned them a small house, and on moving day, their coworkers crowded in to celebrate. Their union had become a beacon of hope for the entire community. 

Calista smiled as she glanced at their wedding photo framed on the wall. She had even given Henry her cherished good luck charm, which he now wore close to his heart.

Despite his stoic demeanor, Henry turned out to be incredibly tender. He pampered Calista, refusing to let her handle even the smallest chores. Mr. Carter sighed, shaking his head, but after making a few calls, he returned with news. “The base sends a supply car to buy once a month. You’re in luck—it’s due today.”

Ken was out the door before Mr. Carter finished speaking, his determination propelling him forward.
