Aher a while, Jessica finally appeared before Leon.

But Jessica wasn’t fooled. This was just another one of his tricks to manipulate her. She wasn’t falling for it.

After what she’d been through with Waldo’s betrayal, she no longer had any hopes or illusions about men.

She said, “Your Highness, men and women should keep their distance. My courtyard is no place for you.” She added, “If you wish to visit my family’s manor as a guest, please come through the front gate. My brother will surely welcome you properly and even send for a doctor to treat you.”

“I can’t walk anymore,” Leon exhaled, closing his eyes as if he were resting.

He said hoarsely, “Jessica, I’ll allow you to carry me outside and throw me at your manor’s front gate. But if anyone else lays a hand on me, they die.”

Jessica sucked in a sharp breath. Because he absolutely meant those words. She really had no way to deal with him.

“What do you want from me, exactly?” She couldn’t just let him die here.

The pool of blood on the ground was already terrifying enough.
