Chapter 123
Chapter 123
Jessica continued, “It was them ganging up on me. Are you blind? Can’t you see anything at all? Didn’t you see the injuries all over me?”
Priscilla’s eyes were red, but the moment she thought of Jessica’s harsh words, she forced all her tears back.
She absolutely would not cry in front of these worthless men.
She was the daughter of the Desert Eagle, born different from ordinary girls. She must never cry.
But even so, looking at Waldo now, resentment flooded her heart.
She said, “Waldo, I gave up everything to follow you to a foreign land, and asked for nothing in return. What have you ever done for me? Even when I’m being bullied, you don’t dare utter a word! What use is your royal title if you can’t even protect me?”
Waldo tried to explain. “Priscilla, if you had been in the right, no one would dare bully you, and I would never let them off easily! But you–”
Priscilla interrupted him, “So what you’re saying is, whatever Jessica does is right, and whatever I do is wrong? You like her so much, then why don’t you go back to her? What are you clinging to me for?”
Priscilla suddenly yanked open the carriage curtain and jumped out.
“Priscilla!” Waldo hurried after her, only to see Priscilla shove a guard off his horse, mount it, and whip the reins fiercely, speeding away.
“Priscilla, where are you going?” Seeing the bloodstains still on her clothes, Waldo felt an unspeakable ache in his heart. He quickly mounted his own horse and chased after her.
Priscilla’s riding skills were excellent. After all, she had been riding horses for her whole life.
By the time Waldo caught up, she had already galloped into the bustling city streets and stopped because she had crashed into someone.
When Waldo arrived, he saw Priscilla arguing with someone, saying, “I didn’t hit you on purpose. It was your kid who ran out suddenly. What does it have to do with me? If anything, your kid scared my horse. I almost fell off it.”
The lady retorted, “You damned woman. How can you be so unreasonable? You injured my child and still have the nerve to blame others.”
On the ground sat a child about seven or eight years old. He didn’t seem seriously hurt, but he was clearly frightened and was crying loudly.
Waldo was about to step forward and defuse the situation when a cheerful laugh rang out nearby. “Isn’t this the famous Desert Rose, Ms. Mcbride?”
Priscilla heard that title for the first time. Still, it sounded quite pleasant to the ears.
“And you are?” Priscilla looked him up and down.
The man before her was tall and wore a luxurious robe embroidered with patterns in golden silk, belted at the waist with a silver sash bearing auspicious designs. He was strikingly handsome, exuding an undeniable air of nobility.
One glance, and it was clear he wasn’t an ordinary man. Priscilla felt he looked vaguely familiar.
The man said, “Have you forgotten me, Ms. Mcbride? We met briefly at the banquet the other night.”
In this world, only a few men could refer to themselves so confidently.
