Chapter 127
Davon glanced at the bloodstained robe with a look of disdain flashing through his eyes, then casually tossed it to the waiting guard,
The guard, watching Priscilla’s retreating figure, let out a cold snort. “She really thinks she’s someone special now, daring to refuse even your invitation Who does she think she is?”
“It doesn’t matter,” Davon said, a thoughtful glint in his eyes. “I’ve heard her riding and archery skills are second to none. You saw it yourself she raced all the way here and even Waldo couldn’t catch her. Among the noble ladies, she truly rides leagues ahead.”
The guard narrowed his eyes. “You’re thinking of recruiting her into Davon House’s hunting team for the Auturnn Hunt, aren’t you?”
Every year, Waldo House dominated the Autumn Hunt, thanks largely to Garbisch, who always joined their team.
Everyone knew, though it was never publicly declared, that whichever prince’s team won the hunt, the Royal Guard token for that year would fall into his hands.
The King made it clear: the Royal Guard was not to become any single prince’s personal army. The token must change hands year by year, to keep the power balance intact.
But for several years running, it had remained firmly with Waldo–meaning the Capital’s security had been firmly under Waldo House’s control.
Now that Waldo had fallen out with the Yates family, it was unlikely Garbisch would side with him again. Still, Waldo had Priscilla now. If she joined Waldo’s team, they would still have a real chance at winning.
Yet, judging by today’s events, Waldo House seemed to be splintering from within.
Davon chuckled. “If we can bring Priscilla over, maybe–just maybe–this year, the Royal Guard token will finally change hands. That said,” he added with
a faint smile, “the little minx seems to have gone chasing after Waldo.”
Even without Garbisch, and even with Priscilla, Waldo’s team might not be invincible this year.
“Besides,” Davon said, “with Jessica dazzling everyone at Waldo House, it’s doubtful those two will patch things up so easily.”
In high spirits, he turned on his heel. “Come on. Let’s pay the Yates family a visit.”

That evening, Jessica had just returned to the Yates estate after taking Elsie for a stroll around Capitalia. No sooner had she stepped through the gates
than a servant hurried over.
“Miss, Prince Davon has been waiting for you. He’s been here half the day.”
Jessica frowned. She had little acquaintance with Davon. What business could he possibly have with her?
When she entered the hall, she found Davon and Garbisch still leisurely sipping coffee.
As Jessica walked in, her graceful figure seemed to stir a soft breeze, wafting gently into the room.
Even Davon, no stranger to beauty, found his gaze Involuntarily lingering for a beat, a flicker of genuine admiration flashing in his eyes.
“You’re back. Come and greet Prince Davon,” Garbisch said, quickly rising to his feet.
Jessica approached with composed elegance, offering a slight, respectful curtsy. “Your Highness.”
Davon gave a slight nod. “At ease. Please, have a seat.”
Though he was technically a guest, as a prince, his status naturally placed him above all others present.
