Chapter 149
“Priscilla, shut your mouth!” Waldo’s mar exploded through the camp, his eyes blazing with fury
Did she think they were still back in the manor, speaking behind closed doors?
Here, in front of all the soldiers, she dared to spew such vulgar filth.
This wasn’t boldness. It was crudeness–filthy and disgraceful.
“Why are you yelling at me?” Priscilla spun around, glaring at him. “Do you really think Jessica’s body was yours alone to enjoy! You idiot! She probably gave herself to countless others before you came along. You’re the only fool who still treats her like some priceless treasure!”
“Enough!” Darwin snarled, stepping forward, His bloodshot eyes burned with a rage so fierce it seemed he might ignite on the spot.
“Priscilla,” he growled, “I told you–you can insult me all you like. But you will not, you will not slander Miss Yates. She is pure and untouchable. You’re the one who’s filthy–not her.”
“What did you say?!” Priscilla’s entire body shook with rage, her face draining of color.
A mere deputy dared call her–her–a filthy creature?
“You dog!” Priscilla screamed. “You dare–I’ll kill you!”
She raised her sword, genuinely meaning to cut Darwin down then and there, and if Waldo hadn’t grabbed her from behind, she would have already struck the fatal blow.
Darwin, however, stood firm, his gaze unwavering as he looked at Waldo. “I am rough and unworthy,” he said, voice steady. “I would never dare tarnish even a hair on Miss Yates head. But this woman–vicious and cruel–if left alive, will one day bring disaster upon us all. I am too weak to kill her myself Thus, Loffer my own life as a warning. Please, General, grant me death to protect the soldiers.”
“Darwin!”
But it was too late.
Darwin, with a swift and merciless motion, drew the sword at his waist and slashed it across his own throat.
“Darwin!”
“Darwint
“Darwin!”
He toppled from his horse, crumpling into a growing pool of blood.
Hughle leapt down to catch him, but it was no use,
Darwin was already dead.
The soldiers behind, unaware of the commotion, continued forward.
But those who stood nearby–those who saw–turned their murderous eyes on Priscilla, Their rage was a living thing, thick enough to ch
Priscilla, bold as she was, felt a chill race down her spine under the weight of their star–stars filed with raw, barely restrained hatred.
“I–it’s not my fault!” she stammered, shrinking back. “He killed himself. I was only trying to scare him! How was I supposed to know he was such a
coward?

Chapter 149
“Priscilla‘” Hughie’s voice trembled with fury, his teeth clenched so hard it seemed he might shatter them.
The soldiers‘ hands drifted toward their hills, and the killing intent in their eyes could no longer be concealed.
Waldo had been furious too, but the murderous aura filling the camp forced him to calm himself in an instant.
He turned a hard, searing gaze on Priscilla,
Still, she opened her mouth to speak….
