He suddenly felt an urge to wrap it around his fingers and play with it.

He continued, “Garbisch does indeed have skill in riding and archery. Nolan isn’t qualified. As for the Grover House, Mrs. Alivia is a viable option. If she agrees. That leaves three open spots. Who will you find to fill them?”

Jessica’s lips parted slightly, but Leon cut in, “Your second aunt may have brute strength, but her skills in riding and archery are mediocre at best. And your grandfather won’t allow your third uncle’s fiancée through the gate. She doesn’t count as someone from your household.”

Jessica’s breath caught. She glared at him. “You’ve been investigating my family?”

Leon explained, “You’re my future wife. Back when I was stationed in Northern Borderlands, I had no way to inquire. But now that I’ve returned, how could I not understand your household affairs? Otherwise, how would handle any sudden upheaval in your family?”
