Chapter 92
Of course, Jessica had no Intention of agreeing.
But it couldn’t simply be refused with a “I’m not worthy”
Malik said he would respect her decision, but still “haped she would reconsider,”
He was already giving her a lot of face.
But whether it would turn into an imperial dester wasn’t up to her. It was up to the King. Besides, when it came lo political marriages between kingdoms, it was always the princess who married into the other country. Yet, Prince Malike was choosing a mere noble lady from the Yates family People said she was unbelievably lucky.
And now she wanted to reject it. People thought she must be out of her mind.
There was a storm of discussion among the crowd. Many said Jessica didn’t know how to appreciate what was being handed to her.
After the tournament ended, Garbisch and Monica rode in the front carriage, heading back to the Yates family estate, Inside the carriage, the mood was heavy.
“Jessica.
you and Prince Malik… had you met before?” Garbisch asked cautiously
Jessica shook her head. “We’ve crossed paths, but he’s not interested in me. Today’s proposal was completely unexpected.”
“Unexpected?” Garbisch frowned. But a marriage alliance between two kingdoms wasn’t something that could be brushed off as an “accident.”
He thought maybe Malik was upset about losing to Jessica, so he decided to stir up trouble with a public proposal.
Malik didn’t seem like the impulsive type: Jessica, sensing her brother’s thoughts, shook her head again. She couldn’t make sense of it either.
by be taken back, Jessica, if the King truly agrees…
Garbisch said, “Still, a prince represents the honor of his entire country. What’s said publicly can’t easily you’ll have to marry into Askar.”
This wasn’t a joke.
But Garbisch had his own thoughts. “From what I saw today, Prince/Malik fights honorably and openly. He seems like a decent man.” In martial arts, one’s character can often be seen.
He added, “And he’s already twenty–three, well past the age of marriage. Yet there’s not a single concubine or beauty in his residence. That alone says a lot about his self–restraint.”
Jessica glared at him. “What are you trying to say?”
Garbisch knew she wasn’t in a good mood, but as her brother, he wanted her to find happiness.
He said, “I’m just saying… Prince Malik is no worse in looks than Waldo. His character might even be better. His status is equal to yours. If you were willing, he wouldn’t be a bad choice.”
After her broken engagement with Waldo, it would be difficult to find a good match again in Novigrad
Garbisch wondered if Malik’s appearance would be a turning point in Jessica’s life,
“Garbisch, can you stop already? You’re really getting on my nerves” Jessica snapped, glaring at him.
Garbisch was taken aback.
