“Sorry. My head’s been a mess these past couple of days.”

Sierra didn’t bring up anything about Shane Johnathan already had enough on his plate–dragging Shane into it would only make things worse.

She knew Johnathan wasn’t afraid of Shane in the slightest, but that man was a lunatic. Once a lunatic latches onto you, it’s hard to walk away unscathed.

Johnathan didn’t say whether he believed her or not. He just looked at her deeply for a long moment before pulling her into a gentle kiss on the forehead and letting her go.

“Sierra, you can ask me anything.”

Johnathan wasn’t blind. He had a good idea of what might’ve happened. But since Sierra wasn’t bringing it up, he didn’t press. He was used to being in control of everything, but Sierra was different–he’d give her respect.

Sierra’s heart clenched. She hesitated, but still didn’t bring up Shane. All she said was, “I just don’t want you to go down the wrong path.”

“Heh.” Johnathan chuckled, pinching her cheek. “Then keep an eye on me.”

They lingered together for a while before Sierra finally left.

As soon as she got out of the car, the calm in Johnathan’s eyes vanished. He’d been so busy lately that he hadn’t noticed what had been going on around Sierra.

He considered it for a moment, but in the end, he didn’t have anyone investigate Sierra. Instead, he told his people to look into Shane and anyone else who might’ve been stirring trouble

The report came back quickly. Shane had publicly provoked Sierra at a mall and ended up getting a bucket of water dumped

on him.

That part made Johnathan smirk. But when he remembered that even with a limp, Shane was still causing trouble, his expression turned cold

He’d already given Shane a chance. Even with a bad leg, the man still couldn’t behave.

Johnathan’s eyes narrowed. He’d made up his mind.
