Lemira glanced up at him, the words having slipped out before she could catch them.

Orion, usually so composed, felt a ripple of emotion. His Adam’s apple bobbed slightly, “Kid, don’t go throwing around promises of responsibility to men. That’s something men should be saying.”

Lemira also realized her words might have come across a bit too forward, almost like she was implying something else.

She quickly lowered her gaze, flustered, “Don’t get the wrong idea. What I just said has no other implication. You’re my friend, and I can’t let you get involved because of me.”

“Yeah, I got it.”

Orion looked towards the hospital, “So, what’s your plan?”

“I think I need to have a talk with Dorian myself.”

“Let’s go then.”

Surprised, Lemira watched his back and hurried after him, “You don’t need to come; I’ll handle it.”

If Orion was there, he surely would be treated badly. She didn’t want him to face any difficulties.

“Lemmy, wait up for me.”

Lucian caught up to them. He hadn’t expected Lemira was stubborn enough to just hop into a taxi and leave, making him chase her all this way.

Seeing Orion ahead, Lucian uttered coldly, “So, you decided to show up. That’s bold of you.”

He had half-expected Orion to chicken out.

Lemira frowned, “Lucian, I told you he has nothing to with it. Why are you doing this?”

“Lemmy, I’m doing this for your own good.”

“That’s enough. How is this for my good? Did you even consider asking me? I don’t think it’s good at all.”

Lemira was fed up with their presumptuousness.

She stormed into the elevator with a stern face, while Orion trailed behind, feeling a bit soft-hearted, “This isn’t as hard as it seems, don’t get too worked up.”
