Lemira wasn't eager to spill her guts to Orion. Their last encounter, over a surveillance footage fiasco, had almost spelled disaster for Orion.

This incident Jackson had the Sinclairs as his backing, and Lemira was hesitant to drag Orion back into the fray. He deserved a peaceful life back in Lyria.

Her own battle with the Langstons was far from over. Peace was a luxury she couldn't afford.

Orion didn't press her, "It's getting late. You should get some rest."

After hanging up, the warmth in Orion's expression turned to ice. He tossed aside his phone, "Find out what's going on between that Jackson guy and Lemira."

"She didn't tell you?"

"No."

"That's odd. Lemon used to rely on you and would tell you when something was up. Why didn’t she tell you this time?"

Orion sensed the shift in Lemira's demeanor too. He had a hunch about what was going through her mind as he turned to Thaddeus, "Enough chit-chat. Get on it!"

"No need to dig too deep, I checked the University's online forum. That Jackson's the captain of the Orvin Team, a notorious sleaze targeting freshmen. With Lemon's looks and gaming prowess, she caught his eye. He even tried to woo her outside her dorm this afternoon."

Seeing Orion's mood darken, Thaddeus quickly added, "But Lemon turned him down. Chances are, the jerk took it personally and bribed the dorm keeper to mess with her."

The chill in Orion's gaze deepened, his lips curling in a disturbing smile, sending shivers down people’s spine.

"Take care of Jackson," he said, almost too casually.

Thaddeus hesitated before saying, "Lemon's quite capable on her own now. Maybe it's time to let her handle her battles. Jackson will get what's coming to him without your intervention."

Orion's eyes drooped, "I know."

"If I hadn't been alert, Lemon would've been exposed by now. Sophia and your mother have been snooping around, trying to figure out who was in that car crash with you."
