Evelina broke out in a cold sweat, her hands trembling so much that she couldn't even hold her phone steady.

She scrambled away from Lemira's desk in a panic.

But Alaric blocked her way, his tone serious and demanding, "You haven't answered my question, Evelina. What were you doing just now?"

Evelina's hands shook uncontrollably, and she couldn't bring herself to meet Alaric's gaze.

Stammering, she managed to get out, "I-I was just trying to help Asher's project win the bid. After all, Maple Group is currently his competitor, and I wanted to lend a hand."

"You wanted to help, I get that. But do you realize that what you were doing is illegal? And not to mention, it could seriously hurt Lemira!"

Alaric was flabbergasted that Evelina would stoop to such lows!

Suddenly, Lucian's words came flooding back to him, "Could it be that the surveillance footage from the café was true?"

"Alaric, it's not what you think."

But Alaric wasn't in the mood to listen to Evelina's explanations, insisting sternly, "You need to go apologize to Lemira, now!"
