Lucian flew into a rage, grabbing Alaric by the collar, "Have you lost your mind? Why on earth are you helping Evelina? Did you forget everything I told you?"
"Lucian, I regret it, okay? What do I do now?"
Alaric attempted a smile, but he couldn't even cry.
Lucian hadn't expected things to turn out this way. He let go of Alaric, "I'll go find Asher!"
With that, Lucian stormed off to confront Asher and demand answers.
Meanwhile, Evelina stood to the side, unnoticed and uncared for, especially the wound on her forehead. The stark difference from the past, when her brothers would've overlooked everything just because she got hurt, made her uncomfortable.
Why had things changed so much?
She had even planned to use her injury as a ploy to win back Alaric's favor.
Evelina cautiously glanced at Alaric, intentionally revealing her wounded forehead, "Alaric, I didn't mean what I said earlier."
But Alaric, weighed down by his emotions, didn't even give her a glance as he walked away.
Evelina watched his retreating figure, her pitiful expression quickly turning into one of impatience.
So much for her plan.
Adjusting her strategy, Evelina quickly called Dorian, her voice choked with feigned distress, "Dorian, I'm dying."
Someone had to take the fall, otherwise her suffering would be for nothing.
With Lucian and Alaric changing, she had to look out for herself, and Dorian was her best bet.
Naive and wealthy, and easy to manipulate.
Once she married into the Draven family, squashing Lemira would be a piece of cake.
---
Michel had invited her to a post-finals gathering, which could be a perfect opportunity to find sponsors.
Leaving the headquarters, Lemira rubbed her arms and decided to head back to her dorm for some rest.
Just as she was about to relax, her phone rang.
Picking up, she was greeted by Asher's icy voice, "Lemira, how dare you sue your own family? Heartless!"
So, they were panicking now?
Hmph, they must've received the lawyer's letter.
Lemira responded calmly, "I've already signed the disownment papers."
"And what does your signature mean? You were born a Langston, you'll die a Langston. If mom and dad knew you're even renouncing the Langston name, how heartbroken they'd be!"
Hearing this, Lemira sat up straight, her eyes cold and determined.
