The team leader looked at her, concern evident in his tone, "Lemira, did you not hear? Someone's been spreading word in the legal circles, warning off any lawyers from taking our case."

Really? Lemira's thoughts immediately flew to Asher, but it struck her as odd since she couldn't recall Asher having such influence in legal circles. Could it be something orchestrated by Asher's fiancée?

"I wasn't aware," she admitted, feeling slightly off balance.

"Don't sweat it. We just got wind of it too, but I'm sure the boss will handle it," one of her teammates tried to reassure her.

Everyone knew Lemira was Mr. Langston's sister, and despite their brother's favoritism making things tough for her, Lemira had shown remarkable independence by striking out on her own for college and beyond.

As Lemira settled into her chair, her mood soured. Without legal representation, they stood little chance in court.

Just then, someone announced, "Lemira, don't worry. The boss is on it."

She looked up to see Thaddeus leading, with Orion following close behind. Orion, having recently resigned from his previous position, now worked here, making their paths cross more frequently.

Answering the call on speaker, she greeted, "Mr. Asher, calling personally must mean you're ready to take responsibility for everything, right?"
