Unable to respond to Alaric's accusation, Evelina just hung her head in defeat.

Asher intervened, "Alright, Alaric, no need to defend Lemira now. She didn't spare you earlier either."

Alaric managed a bitter smile, "My downfall is all on me. Asher, I just hope when you finally see people for who they truly are, you won't have regrets."

Evelina sneaked a glance at Alaric. Given his current legal troubles and ruined career, he was of no use to her anymore.
