Lemira fell silent for a moment.

From the other side of the phone, Asher's voice cut through, "Lemira, you're not allowed to come to the hospital. It's all your fault Lucian and Alaric ended up like this. You have no right to show your face here!"

Hogan, frantic, blurted out, "Boss, how can you say that?"

"Am I wrong? Who else is Lucian in the ER because of?"

"But it's what our boss wanted. The person he most wants to see right now is Ms. Lemira. It's his wish; you can't stop her!"

Holding the phone, Hogan's voice was filled with pleading, "Ms. Lemira!"

"I didn't say I was coming to the hospital. Just a bit of blood loss, he won't die from that."

Lemira wasn't naive. She wasn't about to rush to the hospital over such a manipulative tactic.

"That was said in the heat of the moment. How could she possibly not come?"

Hogan forced a smile, "Boss, there's no need for hostility among family. We could have a decent conversation."

"Wasn't I being decent enough?"

"Boss, you've faced your enemies with a smile before. So why do you have to lash out at Ms. Lemira? I don't get it. Shouldn't family be even more patient, understanding, and caring?"

Hogan couldn't understand it at all.

Now Lucian understood, but it was too late for Ms. Lemira; her heart was already too hurt for regrets to matter.

Asher was left speechless, not believing he was in the wrong.
