“Ms. Lemira, get a doctor, quick! The boss must’ve passed out from something serious.”

Lemira coughed, “No need for a doctor.”

“Ms. Lemira, this is no time for jokes.”

“I’m not joking. I knocked him out myself.”

Lemira looked a bit uneasy, “He took my phone and wouldn’t let me leave.”

Hogan finally breathed a sigh of relief, “The boss didn’t want to keep you here against your will, he just wanted you to stay a bit longer.”

“But they never cared about what I wanted. Did they ever ask if I wanted to stay with them?”

Hogan gave a wry smile, “I know, I tried to tell the boss before, but he wouldn’t listen. Regret doesn’t help now.”

Knowing she couldn’t leave, Lemira felt increasingly frustrated.

Lucian felt saddened; he knew it was Lemira who had struck him.

Hogan quickly tried to mediate, “Boss, Mrs. Caspian Langston’s people are guarding outside. You should let Ms. Lemira go back herself. Forcing her to stay will only backfire.”

There’s no forcing kindness.

Eventually, Lucian agreed, “Alright, Lemmy, I’ll personally take you back.”

“No need.”

“If I don’t, you won’t be able to leave. You know how Caspian can be.”
