Caspian couldn't believe how much Lemira cared about their parents' legacy.
At first, he thought Asher's plan was futile, especially since Lemira had cut ties with the Langston family and vowed never to return.
But to his surprise, Lemira truly cared.
Facing Caspian, Lemira expressed her disbelief, "So, you all just stood by and watched as strangers claimed our parents' belongings? Using them as leverage against me?"
Caspian, feeling guilty, admitted, "If you had agreed to reconcile earlier, none of this would've happened."
"You guys never change," Lemira sighed.
It was the same story, generation after generation.
Even knowing the kind of person Evelina was, both Lucian and Caspian remained silent when they saw Asher handing over the inheritance to her.
Disappointed, Lemira looked at Caspian, "The real disappointment to our parents is you."
Caspian, too ashamed to meet Lemira's gaze, waited until she left before kicking a nearby trash can in frustration.
When Evelina appeared, Caspian pulled her aside.
"What do you want?" Evelina screamed.
"Listen up, you have no right to any of the foundation or property," Caspian snarled.
Evelina, unable to hold back, glared at him, "Let go, or I'll tell the media you're abusive. You'll never recover from that."
"Dare to talk back, Evelina?"
"Because I'm not wrong. You've always been cowardly, blaming Lemira for leaving you behind. I just agreed with you, and now you're pinning everything on me."
"Eve's character is clearer to me than anyone. Lay a hand on her again, and I'll personally make sure you pay," Asher warned before leaving with Evelina.
Caspian was left seething, his agent trying to calm him down, "Listen, as a friend, I'm advising you not to go against Asher. Just get through this and you'll have plenty of chances to deal with Evelina later."
Caspian knew he had limited options.
But he couldn't understand why Asher was so protective of Evelina. He always had a tough approach with Lemira, showing favoritism towards Evelina as if spellbound.
---
After leaving the hospital, Lemira received a call from Lucian.
"Lemmy, I'll support you in the will dispute," he offered.
"Doing so will anger him, and he won't agree. Are you sure?" Lemira questioned, knowing the risks involved.
