Lemira was momentarily caught off guard.

He said her hands weren't made for cooking. She thought he'd be pleased.

Orion stood there, his demeanor gentle, his tone even, "You don't have to do this to impress me."

A tightness formed in Lemira's chest; her actions were just instinctive, a desire to do something nice. But it seemed Orion saw right through her.

Lemira fiddled with a lock of hair near her ear, "Well, okay then."

"The housekeeper will be here soon to make dinner."

Lemira didn't insist. She sneaked a glance at Orion, feeling that he was somehow formidable. Just like the man she'd had a crush on in her past life.

That man had always tried to show her how her brothers weren't good to her, a reality she refused to accept, leading to her tragic end.

Orion's way of speaking was so similar! As this thought crossed her mind, Lemira started to wonder if Orion was the man from her past life.

Soon, the housekeeper arrived, quickly preparing a feast.

Lemira paused, "Evelina has health issues, so she can't eat spicy food, making our meals quite bland."

So, she hardly ever got to eat what she loved at home.

Orion felt a lump in his throat, his breathing constricted as if stuffed with cotton. Despite being a wealthy heiress, her life seemed worse off than that of an ordinary girl.

"Protecting her so fiercely, huh? Everyone's young at some point. Besides, she'll be off to college soon, bound to have a boyfriend."

"Shut it. She doesn't need distractions right now."

Orion glanced towards the study, where Lemira was deeply focused on her work, utterly quiet.

Thaddeus couldn't help but tease, "Alright, I'll let Felix know, but don't you think you're overstepping? What if she likes Dorian? The kid's got a face that girls fall for and knows how to please them, maybe Lemira falls for him too."

Orion, irritated, retorted, "If your intelligence matched your nonsense, your mother would be relieved."

"Whoa, just making conversation, and you get heated? Just a heads-up, you're the one with a fiancee, remember who you met at the restaurant yesterday."

"Stop prying into my business."

Orion hung up the call. He paused, and then walked into the study.

Glancing at her exam paper, he commented: "A bit slow. You can't even solve this?"
