Lemira led the way, but Lucian was quick to catch up.

“Lemmy, I looked into it. It was Zack’s mistake. So, he’s here to apologize to you.”

After Lucian spoke, the butler approached, “Ms. Langston, it was a senior moment for me, missed the issue with one of the stationery items, all my fault. Please don’t blame Mr. Lucian Langston.”

Evelina also stepped forward at the moment, “Lemmy, Zack’s getting on in years, these mistakes happen. Let’s not hold grudges, yeah?”

Lemira stood her ground, her gaze distant and cold. Did they really think after they harmed others, a simple apology could make everything alright?

“It’s funny, getting old and all that, but how come he messed up Lemon’s stationery and not yours, huh?”

A car pulled up to the curb, and out stepped Thaddeus, fuming. Orion rolled down the window, his gaze deep as he looked at Lemira, “Get in!”

Without hesitation, Lemira turned and walked towards the car.

Lucian hurried forward, “Wait, Lemmy, everything’s been sorted. Can’t you come back home?”

Lemira shook off Lucian’s hand, “No!”

“Lemmy, what do I have to do to take the edge off your anger?”

With a callous expression, Orion got out of the car, pushing Lucian aside, “Maybe you need a mirror to see how selfish you look!”

“Me, selfish? I’m worried about her!”

“If you were really worried, you wouldn’t have forced her to accept your so-called apology before her exams were even over. The moment she doesn’t accept, you think she’s throwing a tantrum, being ungrateful.

Her feelings matter the most right now. But all you care about is clearing your name regarding the stationery, forcing her to accept the apology, never considering if it affects her. If that’s not selfish, then what is?”

Lemira looked out the car window at Lucian, her tone calm, “I know. I’ll go back after my exams.”

Lucian felt muddled. Why did he not feel relieved when Lemira said she knew?

He was finding it harder and harder to understand what Lemira was thinking. Lucian nodded, “Okay, my bad for not considering everything. I’ll explain everything after your exams.”

He stepped back, even though reluctantly, not daring to stop her anymore.

That Orion was no ordinary man, and Lucian wasn’t sure he could take him. But most importantly, it could affect Lemira’s exam state.

That was what mattered most. He was stepping back for Lemira’s sake, not because he was afraid of Orion!

Evelina, watching Lemira leave, bit her lip in frustration. Lemira had actually left. “Damn it,” she thought. “Can’t believe Lucian couldn’t keep her!”
