Nathan threw his head back and burst into wild, manic laughter. His voice echoed around the hospital room—sharp, grating, utterly unrestrained.

"You pathetic woman! Do you really think I'd have let you live this long if I didn't need those last shares of yours?"

He grinned wide, his lips stretched in a hideous smirk, the corners of his mouth curling like a venomous snake coiling in the dark.

"Sharing a bed with you disgusts me. Every single night. And don't even get me started on sex—you just lie there like a corpse, no reaction at all. You think you compare to Sophia? You're not even worthy to polish her shoes." He shook his head, almost gloating, as if he were showing off some filthy secret.

"I'll tell you the truth: I never loved you. If your family didn't have money, I wouldn't have given you a second glance. Frankly, you were dumb enough to let me walk away with Jones Group. Once I'm out of here, I'll take the woman I actually love and my kids and move abroad. What could you possibly do to stop me? Ha! Ha! Ha!"

Nathan doubled over, laughing so hard his whole body shook, the wounds on his face twisting and splitting like ugly centipedes slithering across his skin.

Every word was salt in Adah's wounds, words that cut deep and sent a surge of adrenaline blazing through her veins.

In that moment, it was as if some dark, furious force had possessed her. The searing pain in her legs and eyes faded into nothing.

Her chest heaved with ragged, heavy breaths, loud and raw in the sterile room.

Clenching her fists so tightly the veins bulged on the backs of her hands, Adah slowly pushed herself upright.

Nathan, still convulsing with laughter, caught sight of her sudden movement. His laughter died in his throat, smile freezing on his twisted face.

His eyes went wide, disbelief etched across every inch of his features.

Adah's rage contorted her face, transforming her usual gentle features into something monstrous.

Her lips twisted, teeth grinding audibly, the muscles in her face twitching and jerking until she looked like some vengeful spirit risen from hell.
