Gilbert swung open the door, expecting to see Sherilyn, but she wasn't there.

His brow furrowed even deeper as he made a beeline for the nurse's station.

"Excuse me, have you seen my wife?"

"Uh, Mr. Harrison... Mrs. Harrison was just here. She said hello, but she's already left."

A wave of panic washed over Gilbert, and a cold sweat broke out as he turned and rushed outside.

"Mr. Gilbert!" Charles called out, walking briskly towards him. "Are we heading to the office now, or—"

"Where's Sherilyn?" Gilbert cut him off, his voice tinged with frustration. "You were supposed to be keeping an eye on things outside. How did she just leave?"

"I'm right here."

Before Charles could explain, Sherilyn appeared, holding her phone, and walked over slowly.

Gilbert exhaled a sigh of relief and wrapped her in his arms. "I thought you left."

Sherilyn leaned into his embrace, neither resisting nor responding.

"No, I just stepped out to take a call. Had to update Blake on the situation. But you..." She looked up at him.

"Weren't you supposed to wait in the room for me? Running around like this, do you want to faint again?"

"My bad." Gilbert admitted without hesitation, looking contrite. "I won't do it again."

He gazed at her, seeking reassurance, "You won't leave me, right?"

Sherilyn's eyes glistened with unshed tears, and she didn't answer his question. "Let's go."

She shifted the conversation, "Are you going to the office or heading back to Blue Haven to rest?"

"Rest? Who has time for that?" Gilbert chuckled bitterly, avoiding the deeper issue.

"I'm heading to the office. There's a mountain of work waiting."

"Alright then." Sherilyn smiled gently, "Work's important, but your health comes first. Make sure to take care of yourself."

"I'll follow your lead," Gilbert promised.

As they exited the hospital and got into the car, Sherilyn stared out the window, silent.

One piece was forever Caroline's.
