"Eh?"

James puffed up his cheeks, looking a bit defiant. "Dad, you're so bossy! Can't I even be sad? I'm gonna miss Jenna, you know."

Francis chuckled softly, "Alright, alright. But if you keep sulking like that, Ms. White might think you're not happy to see her."

"Ms. White?"

James's eyes lit up with excitement, his mood instantly lifted. "Where is she?"

As they spoke, the car rolled up to the grand entrance of the Johnson Mansion.

"Over there," Francis pointed toward the main house. "She's waiting for you inside."

"Really?" James asked, a mix of skepticism and hope in his voice.

"You'll see for yourself soon enough."

The car came to a halt in front of the mansion. Francis scooped James up and stepped out. The moment they did, the grand doors swung open from the inside.

Rebecca White stood there, her eyes scanning eagerly until they landed on the father and son. Her face broke into a warm smile.

"Ms. White!" James wriggled free from Francis's arms and dashed toward her.

"James!" Rebecca bent down, catching him in a snug embrace.

"I missed you, Ms. White," he declared earnestly, despite having seen her just yesterday.

"Did you now?" Rebecca chuckled, her eyes twinkling. "Well, I've missed you too, James."

Looking up, she met Francis's gaze. Though he appeared a bit weary, his eyes still sparkled with warmth.

"I'm back," he said softly, his voice a soothing balm.

Rebecca nodded, "It's been a long journey, hasn't it? You must be tired. Let's get some dinner on the table, and then you can rest."

With that, she guided James inside, Francis following with a content smile.

Earlier at Blue Haven, his brother had mentioned something about his good days being just around the corner. And here they were, right before his eyes.

"Sherilyn has nothing to do with the Martins!"

"Hey!" Naylor chuckled, undeterred by the outburst. "Isn't Farley your father?"

Sherilyn pressed her lips together, her face growing paler by the second.

"Stop it!" Gilbert's heart ached for her, his voice cutting through the tension. "Who asked you to meddle?"

"Now hold on," Naylor protested. "I'm just trying to help. If the proposal goes through, we'll have a proper wedding. And anyway, a bride needs her family there..."

"She doesn't need them!" Gilbert growled, his patience wearing thin. "Sherilyn has me, and that's enough!"

"What kind of talk is that?" Naylor shot back, frustration mounting. "No grand family background is one thing, but not having her own family at the wedding? What will people say about the Harrison family? Marrying such a daughter-in-law..."

"Enough!" Gilbert roared, veins popping on his forehead. He regretted coming here more than ever. "We can have a wedding without her family. Sherilyn, we're leaving!"

With that, he held Sherilyn's hand tightly, guiding her out of the room.
