Sherilyn opened her eyes again, turning over. “Isn’t Caroline staying over? Don’t you need to keep her company? Comfort her? Sweet–talk her?” 

Where did she go wrong in saying that? 

“Sherilyn!” Gilbert’s voice was dark and stormy, his brow furrowed in frustration.
