Day Three.
Three days had passed, and Gilbert showed no signs of waking up.
The doctor checked in, his brow furrowed, shaking his head.
A lump formed in Francis' throat, the worst was happening.
"Why the head shake?"
Suddenly, Caroline lost control, her eyes red with anger, glaring at the doctor, "Don't just shake your head, you're a doctor, figure something out, wake him up!"
"Ms. Bennett."
The doctor struggled, "I've done all I can; the rest is up to Mr. Gilbert himself."
"Nonsense!"
Caroline was livid, shouting, "If you're not up to the task, just say it! The Johnson family can afford the best, we'll fire you right now!"
She turned, grabbing Francis' arm, "Francis, fire him! Get Gilbert a better doctor, now!"
"Mr. Francis..." the doctor looked terrified.
"Caroline!"
Francis grabbed her wrist, "Calm down, this isn't helping Gilbert!"
"What else can we do?"
Caroline's gaze faltered, then she rushed to the bed, grabbing Gilbert's shirt, pulling and tugging.
"Gilbert! Get up! What's this, sleeping here? You're really proving the Harrison family right, aren’t you? Wanting you gone and you just lying here, making their wishes come true?"
"Get up! This cowardice, Gilbert, I despise it! Stand up, fight back against the Harrisons! You're not that helpless kid anymore, you've got power now! Get up, get up!"
Towards the end, Caroline was screaming and crying, fists pounding down on Gilbert's body!
The doctor and nurses were stunned...
"Caroline!" Francis rushed forward, grabbing her arms. "Stop! Do you want to hurt him even more?"
"What should we do then?"
Caroline looked up, tears streaming down her face, "Aren't we his closest people? We've been by his side day and night, the doctor says he's fine physically, why won't he wake up?"
Suddenly, Rebecca covered her eyes, letting out a soft groan.
"Rebecca?" Sherilyn noticed, "What's wrong? Is it your eyes?"
"Yes." Rebecca nodded, rubbing her temples, "My eyes feel swollen, and I have a headache."
This was no small matter.
Rebecca was scheduled for eye surgery after the year, and nothing could go wrong now.
"Rebecca, we need to see a doctor."
But the doctor who looked after Rebecca's eyes wasn't someone you could see on a whim. His appointments required waiting in line.
But could Rebecca wait with her condition?
There was a way not to wait, of course, they needed to contact Francis.
Sherilyn hesitated; Francis had recently asked her to visit the hospital, but she had refused...
Would he respond if she called now for Rebecca's sake?
