She'd grown old and had stepped back from the family affairs, yet when it came to her grandchildren, she never took matters lightly.

"Grandma, I..."

Under Sylvia's piercing gaze, Caroline's eyes flickered, betraying her unease.

"Is it something about Gilbert?"

Sylvia lost her patience. "Not talking, huh? Fine. You told me Gilbert was on a business trip, right? Call him now. This instant!"

Caroline was stunned, unsure of what to do next.

"Well? Why aren't you calling?"

Sylvia scoffed coldly, her tone severe. "At this point, you're still not willing to be honest with me? Is there something wrong with Gilbert? Are you ready to take responsibility for whatever it is? Can you even bear that responsibility?"

"Grandma, I'll tell you!"

With no way out, Caroline had no choice but to confess.

She lowered her gaze, unable to meet the old lady's eyes, and whispered, "Gilbert... he's been injured and is unconscious..."

She laid out the entire situation to Sylvia.

Sylvia felt a sudden rush of blood to her head, a chill spreading from her feet to the back of her neck. She closed her eyes and clutched the back of her head.

"Grandma!" Caroline cried out, panic-stricken, as she rushed to support Sylvia. "Francis and I didn’t tell you because we were afraid this would happen. Grandma, where’s your medicine?"

Frantically searching Sylvia's pockets, she found the emergency pills, took out two, and fed them to her.

"Grandma, just keep them under your tongue!"

Sylvia managed to swallow them.

"Grandma, are you alright?" Caroline was extremely nervous, worried about how she would explain any further complications to Francis.

Thankfully, Sylvia recovered.

Caroline helped her sit down on the couch. After a moment, Sylvia opened her eyes, looking somewhat better.

"Grandma?"

"I'm fine."

Sylvia gestured dismissively. "I'm not dying yet. It's not my time!"

She stood up with Caroline's help. "Let's go."

"Grandma." Francis got out of the car, his brow furrowing as he glanced at Caroline.

How did Grandma find out about Gilbert?

There was no need for Caroline to explain. Sylvia walked straight up to Sherilyn, tears in her eyes, and grasped her hands, choking up.

"Sherilyn, please save Gilbert!"

"Grandma."

It seemed Gilbert hadn't woken up yet.

Sherilyn's breath hitched. "I know you're worried, but if the doctors can't do anything, what makes you think I can? If even Caroline can't wake him, what chance do I have?"

"Please, do it for me?"

Sylvia's eyes clouded with desperation as she clung to her hand, appealing to her emotions. "I know about the issues between you and Gilbert, and I've never taken sides. I've never pressured you to go back to him, have I?"

Sherilyn was silent for a moment before nodding.

"I'm begging you!"

Sylvia's eyes darkened with determination. "Please, just go see Gilbert! I'll get down on my knees if I have to!"
