"Hmm."

After ending the call, Sherilyn closed her eyes, tears gently rolling down her cheeks. She whispered a silent prayer for her daughter Jenna, hoping the good fortune mentioned on the phone would truly bring a new beginning to her life.

Wiping away her tears, she took a moment to freshen up in the bathroom before heading back to the hospital room.

Gilbert had been waiting so long that his impatience was almost palpable. "What took you so long? Did the film crew call you back?"

"No."

Sherilyn shook her head as she sat down beside his bed. "I'm off today, so there's no need to go to the set."

"So, you mean you can spend the whole day with me?"

The hope in his eyes was nearly overflowing.

Sherilyn hesitated for a moment before nodding, "Yes, I can."

"That's wonderful."

Gilbert smiled, taking her hand warmly into his, "Sherilyn, you're amazing."

Sherilyn just gave him a gentle smile, not saying a word.

"Sherilyn."

Looking into her eyes with his own, filled with affection, Gilbert reassured her, "Don't worry, I can take care of you and Jenna. We'll have a good life together."

He added with a mix of pride and shyness, "The alimony I paid you, I earned it all on my own."

"Once I'm out of here, let's start planning the wedding. We, you, me, and Jenna, we'll live together as a family..."

He rambled on, lost in his own thoughts.

"Alright."

Sherilyn, her eyelashes fluttering, gently interrupted him, "You've just started feeling better and already you're planning away? You should rest now. After the IV, you'll feel sleepy; lie down and get a good nap. The more you rest, the quicker you'll recover."

"Okay." Gilbert obediently closed his mouth and nodded with a smile, "I'll listen to you."

Sherilyn helped him lie down and pulled the blanket over him. "Close your eyes, go to sleep."

"You won't leave?"

He gestured towards the nightstand, "She left you a note."

Gilbert saw the note on the nightstand.

[I've gone to the set. Got a night shoot. If it's too late, I might not come over.]

After reading it, Gilbert felt a pang of disappointment.

"All you think about is Sherilyn. What about you?"

Francis gave his brother a sidelong glance, continuing with his apple peeling, his tone as casual as commenting on the weather.

"Me?"

Gilbert was taken aback, not quite following. "What about me?"

"You've rested enough, haven't you?"

Francis pointed at Gilbert's head, now sporting an inch of hair, "Once you're discharged, it's back to the office for you. Loafing around all day, what kind of look is that?"

"..." Gilbert was confused, staring blankly at Francis, "Big bro, what are you talking about?"
