"Hello?"
A strange female voice answered from the other end.
"Mr. Nine, I'm Mrs. Katy's caregiver!"
Mr. Nine? Mrs. Katy?
Gilbert's sleepiness vanished instantly, and he sat up with a start. "What's happened to her?"
"Mrs. Katy accidentally drank some diluted cleaning solution that the cleaner was using in the bathroom. She's been taken to the hospital now, and the boss asked me to inform you..."
"How could you let this happen?"
Gilbert's anger flared, his fury evident.
"I'm on my way!"
After hanging up, Gilbert was already dressed, grabbed his car keys, and rushed to the hospital.
As he entered the emergency room, he could hear Katy's cries.
"No, don't!"
Seeing Katy completely uncooperative, the doctor looked anxiously at Naylor, "Mr. Harrison, we can't perform a stomach pump like this!"
"Find a way to hold her down!" Naylor frowned, "If anything happens to her..."
"Mr. Nine is here!"
Gilbert burst in, moving so fast he nearly left a trail behind him.
Katy was being forcibly held down by the nurses. She was trembling with fear, biting her lip so hard it bled.
"Let her go!"
Seeing him rush in so fiercely, the nurses instinctively let go.
"Ah..."
Once free, Katy immediately tried to run away.
"Nine!" Naylor was anxious, "Stop your mom!"
Gilbert caught Katy as she tried to dash out. His arms were strong, yet they trembled slightly.
He blurted out, "Mom! Mom!"
"Quickly!" Naylor glanced at the doctor, "Hurry up!"
After the procedure, Katy was moved to a hospital room.
Fortunately, the diluted cleaner was not as corrosive, but she still needed follow-up treatment.
Outside the hospital room.
"Naylor!" Gilbert confronted Naylor, his anger palpable, "Is this how you take care of her?"
Naylor didn't resist or argue, "It's my fault."
"Huh?" Gilbert's anger turned to a bitter laugh, "She suffers like this, and you think saying 'my fault' makes everything okay?"
"What do you want me to do?" Naylor shook his head, "I didn't want anything bad to happen to her. Do you think I'm not worried?"
Gilbert's grip loosened. Even in his anger, what could he do?
He turned to go inside.
"Nine."
Naylor seized the moment, "Come back. You saw it yourself, when your mom heard you call her, she calmed down. Her illness, ordinary medicine won't cure, maybe, you're the 'medicine' she needs."
