"Just got off the flight?"

Yates glanced at his cousin, pouring him a glass of water. "Take a break, catch your breath."

"Yeah."

Edgar took the glass, quenching his thirst and feeling much better.

Yates teased him, "Not tired? What brings you here? You've been away in Rainshore City for so long. Aren't you rushing back home to check in?"

"No rush."

Edgar frowned, shaking his head. "Once I get back, my mom will start nagging."

Nagging about what? Naturally, about him going on blind dates.

Yates laughed out loud. "Relax, you've been in Rainshore City for two months. Your mom was worried you wouldn't come back at all. I guess, at least for now, she won't push you into blind dates."

Edgar raised an eyebrow. "That would be great."

Putting down his glass, he stood up. "I'm going to the restroom."

Gilbert raised his hand, snuffing out his cigarette in the ashtray. "I'm stepping out for some fresh air."

...

When Edgar came out of the restroom, he ran into Gilbert at the end of the hallway.

"Gilbert?"

"Yeah."

Gilbert, hands in his pockets, turned to look at him with a hesitant expression.

"Bro." Edgar had a feeling. "You got something to tell me?"

"Yes."

Gilbert nodded, his gaze fixed on Edgar. His lips parted slightly, his expression serious, "I want to ask you, do you still like Sherilyn?"

Edgar was stunned, not understanding why he would ask that. Their eyes met, and he could feel the intense pressure coming from Gilbert.

But he wasn't afraid to answer. Silently clenching his fists, he nodded solemnly. "Yes, I still do."

Edgar was shocked again.

This was true? And it was Gilbert himself telling him?

"Really." Gilbert nodded.

Not just Edgar was surprised, Gilbert himself was too. If Edgar had shown any hesitation when he asked, he wouldn't have said all this.

Initially, it was him who maneuvered Sherilyn into giving up on Edgar and staying with him. This was what he owed Sherilyn. Now, he's returned it to her.

Gilbert's gaze on Edgar was bittersweet, the taste spreading from the tip of his heart to his tongue. When he spoke, his whole being felt numb. "This is your chance."

At those words, Edgar felt as if his heart would leap out of his chest the next second!

Suddenly turning around, taking two steps, then looking back at Gilbert. "Gilbert, thank you... thank you!"

This thank you, he didn't know if it was for himself or for Sherilyn.

After that, he didn't look back, running away as if his life depended on it!
