"Director, could you come over here, please!"

His consciousness hadn't returned. After vomiting, he collapsed back onto the bed.

Soon, the door to the hospital room swung open, and the doctor walked in, heading straight for the inner room.

Separated by the soundproof glass, Sherilyn couldn't hear what they were saying. All she could see was the doctor's lips moving silently.

The nurse stood by, nodding occasionally, then retrieved some medication from the nearby medical cart and administered it to Gilbert.

After a while, it seemed the situation was temporarily under control. The doctor came out.

"Doctor!" Sherilyn called out softly as he passed by.

The doctor turned around, glancing at her and then at the two bodyguards, uncertain of her connection to the Harrison family.

He explained in a neutral tone, "The toxins haven't been fully cleared, which can cause vomiting. Vomiting is part of the detox process."

"So..." Sherilyn recalled Naylor's words... Gilbert wasn't out of the woods yet.

"Is he going to be okay?" Her voice trembled slightly.

The doctor frowned and shook his head, "I can't guarantee anything right now. It depends on how well the toxins are expelled."

"Okay." Sherilyn paused, feeling a lump in her throat. With difficulty, she added, "Thank you."

"You're welcome. We're doing our best..." The doctor left.

Sherilyn gazed through the glass, then suddenly turned to the bodyguards, "Can I go in to see him? Is that okay?"

The two bodyguards exchanged glances and nodded, "Sure, go ahead."

After all, she was tied up. Even without the restraints, what could a young woman do to Mr. Nine? Besides, they were watching.

She couldn't forget how he almost let her die in Crestwood! Yet now, here he was, lying here, on the brink of death!

How could someone be so extreme, so utterly bad and good to her?

Her throat constricted painfully. From her heart to her fingertips, a sharp, pervasive pain! Hatred and worry intermingled in her eyes!

"Life and death are decreed by fate. If you die, don't blame me!"

Suddenly, the monitor emitted a piercing alarm! The nurse rushed over, grabbing a syringe from the medical cart, cleaned his arm, and administered the injection.

In less than a minute, the alarm stopped. The nurse glanced at her, "He's stable for now!"

Sherilyn was already stunned, her lips quivering as she gasped for air. Hearing this, suddenly, her knees buckled, and she knelt on the floor. Her forehead rested against the edge of the bed, her lips trembling.

With a breathy voice, she murmured softly, "Gilbert, let's put the past behind us..."
