Ashley opened her mouth to ask what he was doing. However, before she could speak, Elias seized the moment and kissed her.

Her purse fell to the floor. With one hand on her phone and her other clutching Elias's shirt, she tilted her head back, yielding to his overwhelming and aggressive kiss.

This was the deepest kiss they'd shared since Ashley had woken up.

It was so deep that it made Elias's body ache slightly. He lingered over her for a long time until a flustered and angry Ashley kicked him away.

She headed to the bathroom to remove her makeup and take a shower. Elias, being as shameless as ever, followed her around.

Then, he went to fetch a towel and his pajamas.

Ashley could see everything clearly in the bathroom mirror. The fact that he was wearing those gray cargo pants that day didn't help at all. Gray really did accentuate certain things.

Ashley didn't consider herself some naïve, innocent girl. However, he had her so flustered that she nearly knocked over her makeup remover.

"I'll shower in the guest room and, you know, take care of things myself. It can't be helped since my wife has no mercy on me, so I'll have to take care of things myself," Elias said.

Ashley had had enough. She shoved him out of the bathroom, locked the door, and finally had some peace.

"Pervert!" she yelled.

It was quite a while after Ashley had finished her shower and was sitting on the bed reviewing documents that Elias finally returned.

Not wanting to hear any more of his nonsense, she got straight to the point. "Beathan claims to have a heart condition, which is why he was eligible for bail, but he doesn't look sick at all. The medical records must be fake."

"Of course they're fake. He's just exploiting legal loopholes." Elias handed her a glass of warm milk. "Drink this. It'll help you sleep."

Elias was only half-listening. "Maybe he paid them off, buying himself unlimited lives?"

Ashley shot him a glare.

Elias, lying on his side with one hand propping up his head, just grinned. "Ash, can you look at me like that again? I really like that look."

"You're crazy," she said.

"Just one more look, please?" He pulled her under the covers. "Come on, Ash, I've warmed up the bed for you. Stop thinking about other people. Just look at me."

Ashley was unable to muster any real anger. "Elias!"
