Elias returned to the hallway where Ashley was waiting. Immediately, he switched to a playful tone, "Babe!"

Ashley was as proud and beautiful, resembling a cat. "Don't call me that!"

Elias chuckled and patted her head, trying to soothe her. "Alright, what should I call you then?"

Ashley maintained her stern expression. "Just call me what you used to."

Elias pretended to be confused. "How did I used to call you again? I suddenly forgot."

Ashley glared at him. However, she couldn't resist his playful smile. After a few seconds, she finally gave in and muttered, "Ash."

Elias twisted open the bottle cap and handed it to her. "Anything else?"

Ashley mumbled, "Wife?"

Elias responded instantly, "Yes, dear!"

Ashley looked at him as if he were a fool.

Elias grinned. "I heard online that women call their lovers ' wives'. I can accept it if you want to call me that."

His shamelessness took her out, and she couldn't help but laugh, turning away to take a sip of her drink.

Elias immediately leaned in to steal a quick kiss. "This peach flavor is pretty sweet. Let's go home, my dear wife."

Ashley pursed her lips together but eventually got up and walked with him.

In a nearby corner, Emelie watched them holding hands and smiled to herself for no apparent reason.

William, standing beside her, watched her intently. "What's so funny?"

She said, "Elias laid out the facts, honestly explaining that he was powerless at the time. It wasn't his fault, and it wasn't his problem. Ashley shouldn't blame him, and it was entirely due to others.

"By doing this, Ashley won't place the blame on him anymore, nor will she blame herself. This was the best way to handle it."
