Chapter 204 

I have so many questions. A part of me wants to obsess over this want to comb through the data piece by piece. Hunt down everyone involved. Tell the others. 

Where would it end? If there is no ulterior motive other than to see what’s going to happen next, what’s the point of me hunting them? What’s the point of us knowing or being aware that we’re nothing more than little toys to an immortal asshole who thinks he’s some kind of God? 

I’ve been sitting outside of the Lycan House in the council courtyard with Jake’s ashes in a black urn thinking about taking them to the sewage plantation to dump there so he can rot with all the shit the way he deserves. 

“I thought I’d find you here,” I look back at Roman. “I’m sorry for your loss, Perry,” 

“Thanks, man,” I nod when he sits next to me. “Where are you guys headed?” 

“Would you be insulted if we choose to 

stay with Vy?” 

“Of course, not,” I shake my head. “She’d be lucky to have you guys. Magique has some pretty cool shit 

“Yeah,” he smiles and then gets serious. “Mack going feral wasn’t on you. The old man fucked us all up pretty badly. Jake lost everything. If you want I can call the others and we can stay for a bit,” 

“No, I’m okay. I mean I’m not, but-” 

Yeah,” he rubs my back. “Do you need help with anything?” 

“No, the cool thing about being royal now is that people are literally stumbling over each other to do whatever I want them

“Yeah, I miss that,” he laughs, “I mean regarding the shit on those servers; 

“They were transferred to a secure server. Once the money is added up. I’ll divide it up and it’ll show up on our hidden accounts. You trust me?” 

“With my life,” he nods. “Any advice on what to do next? I never thought we’d make it this far,” 

“You might have to hit the books so we can add you to the board of directors. I think we all need to be educated a little more so there aren’t too many surprises going forward,” 

“That’s a good idea. Are you hitting Nora?” 

“Yeah, the Alpha King recommended a couple of programs. I’m also going to be working with Valen Academy to get some units on Lycan studies,” 

“Committing to the Queen shit. I respect it,” he bumps my shoulder. “If you need us for anything and I mean anything. you’re going to call right?” 

“Yes,” I nod. “I’m going to slowly comb through everything. See if there’s anything that can fuck us later on. I’ll keep you guys posted with what I find,”

Chapter 204 

He stands up dusting his dark jeans and walks off. I glance back to see Baby on her bike. She’s crying and when she sees me looking she gives me an awkward wave before she slips her helmet on. I wave back at them and listen to the sound of their bikes as they take off. It’s a terrible idea to drive on ice with those things. I’ve never seen the appeal to them. They’re more Violetta’s thing 

“Ready to go?” I smile when his voice startles me. I didn’t hear or sense him coming towards me. I look up at the King He holds his hand out for me to take. He pulls me up and dusts off the skirt of my dress before picking up the black urn. “Your clothes are wet,” 

“I sat there for a while,” I sigh. “It’s not like I’m going to get sick, 

“Do you want to head back to Cliffside? Maybe talk to Ed or-” 

“No, I’m okay here. I just want to try to get some kind of normalcy. I need to find a rhythm,” 

“Okay, you know you can talk to me, right? Anything,” he pulls me closer. 

“Yeah, I know. I’m just not in the mood to talk. I just want to listen. To anything. How was your meeting anything interesting? 

“It was productive. I cleared up some of the damage that we did on Redwood. Lilith is going to rebuild and maybe even relocate to Redwood. Rick wants to move in on the Vampire King. The other Kings have confirmed it, but we have a problem,” 

“What?” I ask as he pulls me with him to lead me to his car. 

Arnold Knightly,” he clears his throat. 

“He’s protecting him?” 

“He’s the one attacking Bart,” 

I sit back and watch him as he drives not wanting to look out the window. That’s strange, right? Arnold Knightly is a businessman. A crazy one, but what the hell would he need from an old fart like Bart I pull my legs up and wrap my arms around my knees feeling the cold now that there’s warmth around me. 

“Alpha Knightly runs one of the biggest media corporations in the world. He’s the one that isolated the mortals in the so–cal region. Those who live there are slaves to the so–called American dream. They think werewolves and vampires are just in movies and books. If he’s hitting the Vampire King it’s probably because he’s targetting his humans,” 

“He wouldn’t just attack him?” 

“No, the Knightlys are a very interesting family. They’ve been in the spotlight for centuries. Kind of like Knight. They’re very careful about who they interact with. The truly violent shit only happens when someone messes with them directly.” 

Like the Rodens,” he nods. 

My stomach clenches at the mention of them. I might not have done it but I feel like I share responsibility for what happened after Knightly’s father destroyed them. 

“Arnold is both a traditionalist and a neo–reformation expert. He’s open to change, but also very secretive. It’s why Knight went rogue. As his heir, he knows what it would mean for him to let his father in. By choosing between his biological father and hits stepdad Fredrick Blake he creates a very dangerous tip in our hierarchy. He’s the only thing standing between the Knightlys and Savages,”
