Chapter 525 A Harmonious Family Of Four 

Noticing the change in the woman’s expression, he comforted her in a gentle tone. “Don’t worry, Gwen. Benny and Zendy are really well-behaved. Benny is done with his injection, and he didn’t cry at all. Zendy is a little less brave, but she’s not crying much with me holding her.” 

Gwendolyn could feel her heart breaking when she saw Zendaya’s pitiful expression. She held back her tears and said, “Thank you, Charles.” 

“No worries,” Charles replied, smiling from ear to ear. 

There was a twinkle in his eyes that would only appear when he saw Gwendolyn. 

Cedrick, who was quietly watching their interaction, felt his heart clench. 

He started packing his suitcase while trying to suppress the bitter sensation in his heart. 

However, Gwendolyn was hardly paying any attention to Charles as she was solely focused on her babies. 

Through the video call, she could see that the doctor had already prepared the injection tools. He was coaxing Zendaya while trying to keep the needle out of her sight. 

However, that was not enough to fool the smart little girl. She seemed to have guessed that she was getting an injection, as she crinkled her nose and glared at the doctor cautiously. 

Putting on a strong front, Gwendolyn forced a smile and said, “Zendy, you’re such a good girl. Mommy and Daddy will be back tomorrow. The injection won’t hurt at all. The doctor will be very gentle.” 

“Zendy, be good. Mommy is watching you. I will also be by your side.” Charles pointed at Gwendolyn on 

the screen. 

As if she could feel Gwendolyn’s presence, Zendaya blinked a few times while trying to grab the phone with her chubby hands. 

Seeing that the girl was distracted, the doctor quickly injected the medicine into her arm. 

Shortly after, Zendaya started feeling the pain, and her small face scrunched up as tears started streaming down. 

However, instead of crying out loud, she was whimpering. 

As her tears fell continuously, her long eyelashes began to stick together. She looked pitiful yet adorable at 

the same time. 

“Zendy, my good girl, mommy’s here.” 

At that moment, Gwendolyn wanted nothing more than to be there to hold her daughter. Tears started welling up in her eyes, but she tried her best to stop them from falling in front of the camera. That was the first time she had experienced such sadness in a long time. 

Perhaps Zendaya was exhausted from her illness. She fell asleep in Charles’ arms after crying for a while. 

Charles turned the phone camera toward Benedict, who was sound asleep in Nico’s arms. 

Nico seemed awkward. He did not dare to move as he did not want to rouse the boy. 

When he saw Gwendolyn looking at him, he let out a chuckle to reassure the woman that everything was 

fine. 

Charles turned the camera back to himself and said in a comforting tone, “Gwen, don’t be sad. It’s common for babies to catch a fever or cold every now and then. After taking fever medicine and getting their shots, they will get better tomorrow. If you’re busy over there, you don’t have to rush back. I will take a few days off to focus on taking care of the kids. I promise I won’t let them fall sick again.” 

“Thank you. I really appreciate it. I’ll treat you to a meal when I’m back.” 

Charles smiled and replied, “Sure. I’ve been looking forward to getting a treat from you. I’m going to remember that and make sure you keep your word.” 

Gwendolyn nodded. 

After the video call ended, the woman could no longer hold back her tears. She sat on the edge of the bed. and started sobbing alone. 

She was the only one who knew how arduous the ten months of pregnancy had been for her. 

When she was in Erihal, she hardly got a good night’s sleep as she had to think of a way to get the Super Antiviral and keep her babies safe at the same time. Back then, she was already experiencing severe morning sickness although she was only six and a half weeks pregnant.

It was tearing Gwendolyn’s heart apart to see how much Zendaya was suffering because of her fever. She could almost feel her baby’s pain and felt responsible for it. 

After she endured her agony alone for a while, Cedrick knelt down next to her and let out a sigh. 

Placing his hands on his wife’s knees tentatively, he said softly. “I’m sorry for my negligence. It’s all my fault. If you’re still mad at me, you can give me a beating to blow off some steam. Don’t be sad, Gwenny.” 

Gwendolyn did not reply and did not even look at him. 

Cedrick took a piece of tissue from the bedside table and carefully wiped the woman’s tears away. 

After a while, Gwendolyn’s expression relaxed a little. She was feeling much better and no longer had the urge to beat the man up. 

While wiping her tears, Cedrick remembered the conversation they had had the previous night. They were supposed to buy a dress for Gwendolyn. Hoping that they could go ahead with the plan, he asked cautiously, “Darling, do we really have to go back tomorrow morning? We agreed to go shopping

Gwendolyn glared at her husband in disbelief. “How can you be thinking of having fun when our babies are sick?” She could not understand what he was thinking. “You can stay in Astoria for a few more days if you want. I’ll go back first.” 

A crease appeared between Cedrick’s brows. “You want to go back alone and leave me here? Why? So that you can take care of the kids together with Charles?” He flashed a self-deprecating smile when he remembered the cozy interaction between Charles and Gwendolyn earlier. “You guys did look like a harmonious family of four just now.” Feeling slightly resentful, Cedrick gripped Gwendolyn’s arm, his eyes bloodshot. “Gwenny, what about me, then?” 

The woman looked at him in shock. “I never said that I wanted to take care of the kids with Charles. You’re the one who didn’t want to go back! Cedrick, I’m your wife. Don’t you think that was a bit hurtful?”
