Monique’s eyes lit up when she saw Angel and smiled brightly, “Little Angel, I’m here.”
Even though she knew that Angel had seen her, she could not help but wave excitedly; her eyes full of affection.
Angel’s classroom was on the second floor. When the bell rang, the teachers would bring all of them downstairs and gather the children in a huge classroom. When Miss Christine saw Monique, she took Angel’s hand and led her to the gate.
When Monique saw that it was Miss Christine, she was slightly relieved.
Miss Christine walked toward her with a big smile. “Are you Angel Xander’s mother?”
Monique finally came to her senses and realized that she kept calling Angel’s nickname.
“Yes, I’m Angel’s mother,” Monique answered with a gentle smile, “thank you, Miss Christine. How did Little Angel do today?”
“Sorry, I meant Angel,” Monique corrected herself. She was so used to calling her daughter by her nickname.
Miss Christine replied, “Angel did really well today. She even got a small red flower badge. She’s really independent. She can eat and drink by herself. She was also very obedient during nap time. I really like her.
“Just one thing though, you might need to start calling her by her true name. Otherwise, she can’t recognize that the teachers are referring to her when they mention her name. Also, teachers from the other shifts might not know her nickname and they won’t know who you’re looking for.”
Monique replied to Miss Christine respectfully, “Sure, thanks for the advice.”
“Oh, no worries. It’s our job. I’ll see you tomorrow then, Angel.” Miss Christine crouched down and bid farewell to Angel.
Angel fluttered her big, round eyes and curled her lips to give a sweet smile, “Goodbye, Miss Christine.”
