It was already noon when Monique woke up. She slowly opened her eyes. The bright sunlight had filled the room. It looked dazzling.

She opened her eyes and closed them again. Then, she opened her eyes again.

She looked at the spot where Henry slept. It was empty. She touched it. It was cold.

It seemed like he had left a while ago.

Monique moved as she wanted to get up. However, her waist was aching and her legs were shaking.

She looked at the sunlight shining in from the outside. The scene last night replayed in her mind.

She woke up in pain. Her whole body was aching each time she tried to move.

She took a pillow and leaned against the bedside. He had no compassion for her. She thought it would only take a short while but he went at it until dawn and ignored her imploration.

‘You were just his lover. You have to be aware of that and stop thinking of things you shouldn’t think of.’

She sighed sadly. She grabbed the phone from the cabinet at the bedside. She was shocked to have found out that she had slept until 3 o’clock in the afternoon.

She thought it was just noon and she could still go to work in the afternoon. It seemed like she had to be absent from work today.

Monique took her phone and called the office number. She did not have Amelia’s phone number. All the employees’ phone numbers were stated in the employees’ handbook.

Amelia initially misunderstood Monique as a rich lady who was only there to experience a different lifestyle. It turned out that she was just an adopted kid in a normal family.
