Monique did not give it a deep thought. She opened her inbox and saw two messages from Louise and another one from Simon. She was surprised to see a message with Simon’s name written above it, and her hands were shaking. Previously, when Simon was arrested by the police, his phone was supposed to be confiscated. If he could send her a message, did it mean that he was released?

Her finger slowly moved to the message and opened it, but she was afraid it would be a disappointment to read. She hesitantly and shakily opened the message, then it appeared in front of her eyes. It was a short message. “Monnie, I was released from prison. Thank you. Take care of yourself, and may you be happy! I’ll come back. Goodbye!”

She stared blankly at the message for a moment before she came back to her senses over those few simple lines. He was released! That was a relief. Finally, there was at least one good news. She was worried for the entire day and afraid that Henry would not let him go; then, his life would be over. She was excited and called Simon. She was worried that it was not real, so she had to confirm it herself. However, his phone was turned off when she called him. Her eyebrows knitted together.

Mandy noticed her brief happiness, which became worry after a while. She walked over and asked, “What happened?”

She raised her head to look at Mandy and remained silent. Mandy was Henry’s secretary, so she should know something. She hesitated for a moment and decided to confirm it with Mandy. “Mandy, do you still remember when I called to ask you about Simon?”

Mandy did not know why she suddenly mentioned him, but she nodded. “What’s the matter with him?”

“He sent me a message and told me that he was released, but when I called, his phone was off. I want to confirm if he was really released from prison,” Monique said.

“I don’t know, but I could help you ask if you want.” Mandy did not know if he was released yet.
