“Fate brought us together outside of troubled times, yet destiny brought us to love in the hardest times…” Monique’s ringtone sounded. She looked at her phone and saw that it was an unknown number.

Monique was accompanying Angel on the office sofa. She kept thinking about the pair of eyes from the car that followed behind them yesterday, so she decided not to drive this morning.

When she came out of the house that morning, she surveyed the surroundings and made sure that nothing was out of the ordinary. She felt like she was becoming a little neurotic.

“Hello,” Monique answered the call without giving much thought.

“Monique, it’s Cindy.” A weak voice sounded from the other end.

Monique was annoyed when she heard her voice; it reminded her of the way she pretended to gain compassion from the others and almost fooled everyone with her acting. She frowned immediately and wondered why she was calling.

“I’m truly sorry for what I did yesterday. I wasn’t in my right mind. Can you please forgive me?” Cindy said sincerely when there was no reply from her.

“Okay, if you don’t have anything else, I’m hanging up,” Monique said coldly. She refused to entertain her any longer after what she did yesterday. She was about to rip her face off, but fortunately, Henry was there to protect her.

“I’m really sorry, Monique. Can you give me a chance to treat you to a meal? I want to apologize to you in person,” Cindy said hurriedly, for fear that Monique would just hang up on her.

Monique was not that petty. Since she apologized, and that they would not meet in the future, she sighed and replied, “No need, I’ve forgiven you. I have things to do. Goodbye.”
